Shining Star-CHAPTER TEN
Liz's eyes filled with tears as she ran out of the room.
"LIZ!!!" Adrianne shouted as she ran after her, "Liz please stop!"
Finally, Liz did stop. The other guys surronded them.
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME ADRIANNE???" Liz cried, "HOW COULD YOU? You know that I've liked AJ for the last 8 years. God, you were the first person I told!"
"I'm sorry Liz." Adrianne said softly, "I was going to tell you. And it's not like you were dating him."
"I DON'T CARE!" Liz screamed, "You were my best friend! We did everything together- sleepovers, movies, staying up late listening to music, checking out guys--everything!! Growing up, do you have any idea how much crap I took for being your friend? I stood up for you when all those kids at school called you a freak!"
Adrianne was supirized, "Well EXCUSE me! Sorry I ruined your social life."
"You didn't." Liz said, "That's the thing, I didn't care about what other people said about you. We've known each other since we were babies. And remember- we promised each other that a guy would never come between us. You broke that promise."
"I never meant to hurt you." Adrianne said, "I'm sorry you had to find out this way."
"I'm sorry too." Liz said, still sobbing, "Sorry I was ever friends with you. GO TO HELL YOU HEARTLESS BITCH!!!"
Liz punched Adrianne across the face and ran out of the Arena.
Adrianne fell on the floor and cried. AJ did his best to calm her down. He wrapped his arms around Adrianne.
Kevin bent down to talk to his sister, "You knew this was going to happen."
"I know" Adrianne said, "But I feel really bad. Liz is so upset."
"She'll get over it eventually." AJ told her. He helped Adrianne up.
Adrianne looked at AJ, "Is it ok if I just skip the party? I'm really not in the mood. If you wanna go Alex, you can. I'm just gonna go to the hotel."
"No, I'll go with you." AJ said, "Guys, I'll cya later."
Brian, Kevin, Nick, and Howie nodded.
Once they got back to the hotel, Adrianne and AJ packed their suitcases. Everyone was going home tomorrow. After that, Adrianne changed into her light blue pajama shorts and one of AJ's tshirts.
Once they got into bed, AJ tried to cheer Adrianne up. He kissed her on the cheek on then on her shoulder. AJ then attempted to slide off Adriannes shorts, but she stoped him.
"Don't Alex." Adrianne said, "Not tonight."
"Wow" AJ replied, "You don't wanna have sex? You REALLY must be upset!"
"Of course I am." Adrianne said, "I just lost my best friend."
AJ pulled her closer to him, "Don't worry about it. Things will blow over. Besides, you still have me. Now c'mon, it's been a long day. Lets get some sleep."
The next morning everyone had to get up early to go to the airport.
While all of them were waiting for their flight, Kevin turned to Adrianne and asked, "Are you feeling any better?"
"A little bit." Adrianne replied.
A few hours later, Adrianne and AJ were home. While AJ checked some messages on the answering machine, Adrianne turned on the tv. On almost every chanel, the top story was about her and AJ. Adrianne was going to ignore it, but then one station started being mean. They started making fun of Adrianne and her past mental problems.
"What a bunch of assholes!" Adrianne said, "Even after 8 years, I still don't understand how they can be so cruel."
"Me too." AJ replied.
*TWO WEEKS LATER*
Adrianne and AJ were in bed making love. But, AJ could tell something was wrong. Adrianne's kisses weren't the same.
"What's the matter?" AJ asked.
"Nothing." Adrianne replied, "I'm just not feeling good."
"You haven't been feeling good for the last few weeks." AJ said.
Adrianne got out of bed, "Alex! Get off my back, ok?"
When she walked towards the bathroom, she became lightheaded and almost fell on the floor.
AJ rushed over to Adrianne, "Baby what happend?"
"Nothing" Adrianne told him, "I just got dizzy for a sec, that's all. I'm fine now." She went in the bathroom and took a shower.
When she got out, she noticed AJ wasn't there and that there was a note on their bed-
Adrianne-
Nick, Brian, and I went to play basketball.
I'll be back in a few hours. Call me on my cell phone if you need anything.

"So how are things with you and Adrianne?" Brian asked AJ.
"Alright." AJ answered, "But she's been so moody latley. I don't know what's wrong."
"It's probably just that time of the month." Nick laughed.
"I guess you're right." AJ sighed.

Adrianne sat in the living room and looked at old pictures. They were of her and Liz when they were kids. There were ones from their first day of kindergarten, school dances, trips to amuesment parks, and so much more. There was even a picture of them at on of Kevin's football games when they were about 8.
Liz had always been there for her. On the day of Adrianne's Dads funeral, Adrianne was too upset to go. So she spent the day at Liz's house. Liz did everything she could to cheer Adrianne up- they made five scoop ice cream sundaes, watched movies, played basketball, played Monopoly, etc. And although none ofthat made Adrianne feel ay better, it did help her take her mind off things.
Liz had been such a great friend. She had never hurt Adrianne in anyway. But, Adrianne had hurt her. Kevin was right, Adrianne had stabed Liz in the back.
Adrianne looked up at a picture of her and . He had made her so happy.
But their relationshp had destroyed Liz's life. The last thing Adrianne wanted to do was hurt her.
Adrianne sighed. She knew what she had to do.......
*FOUR HOURS LATER*
Adrianne sat on the front porch waiting for AJ. She then saw his car pull in the driveway. Adrianne took a deep breath.
"You can do this Adrianne. You have to be strong. No matter how much it hurts. You have to do this."
AJ walked up to Adrianne. He was confused. On the ground near her were all of her suitcases.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"I'm leaving." Adrianne said as she stood up.
"Oh, ok." AJ replied, "When are you gonna be back?"
Adrianne struggled to get the words out, "I'm not coming back."
AJ's eyes widend, "What do you mean you're not coming back?"
Adrianne spoke again, "I....I can't be with you anymore."
Those words hit AJ hard. He couldn't beleive what he was hearing.
"I don't understand." AJ said, "Did I do something wrong? Did I hurt you in anyway?"
"No." Adrianne replied, "You've done nothing wrong. You're the best guy a girl could ever ask for. You're the type of guy girls dream about."
"Then what's the problem?" AJ asked.
"I don't wanna hurt Liz anymore." Adrianne said, "She's my best friend. She trusted me and I broke that trust. Like Liz said, we promised that a guy would never come between us. I'm sorry Alex, but if I have to chose between my boyfriend and my best friend I..."
AJ interuptted, "Don't you love me anymore?"
"Of course I do!" Adrianne said as she brushed her hand against AJ's cheek, "I'll never stop loving you. You're the best thing that's ever happend to me. As much as this is killing me, I have to do it. Sometimes there are things in life that you don't wanna do, but you have to. This is one of those things. I'm sorry."
AJ wrapped his arms around Adrianne's waist and leaned his head against hers.
"Please angelbaby." he cried, "Don't do this to me. Please! I need you."
Adrianne gently grabbed AJ's face and kissed him softly. Her eyes were flooded with tears.
"Goodbye Alex."
